FANTASY BASKETBALL · NBA PLAYER POOL · SNAKE OR AUCTION
GetDraftedNow runs your fantasy basketball draft from any browser. You get a ranked NBA player pool imported in one click, a real draft board, pick timers, turn alerts, and auto-pick for anyone who goes quiet. Draft live on one night or slowly over a week. Your managers join from a link, with no account and no app.
Turn alert: you are up. 150 NBA players imported from Sleeper.
Open the link from your commissioner in any browser, enter a display name, and draft from your phone or laptop. No drafter account required.
Three things: a pool of NBA players, a pick order, and a way to keep the draft moving when someone steps away. Most of the work is the pool. A fantasy basketball draft needs a few hundred ranked players with their positions, and typing that out by hand is where commissioners give up and reach for a spreadsheet.
GetDraftedNow handles all three. The pool comes from Sleeper's public NBA catalog, already ranked. The pick order is enforced for you, snake by default. Pick timers, turn alerts, and auto-pick mean a draft does not stall because one manager is at work or asleep in a different time zone.
In League Setup, open Import from Sleeper and choose NBA. There are two ways to fill the pool:
You choose how deep the pool goes: Top 100, Top 150 (the default), Top 200, Top 300, or a number of your own. Every player arrives with their team attached, so the board reads Jalen Brunson (NYK), and with their position as a category, so you can filter the pool to point guards or centers in one click. There is no Sleeper login and no league sync. The import reads Sleeper's public, read-only data and never touches your Sleeper league.
Not drafting NBA players at all? A dynasty league might want to add future picks; an office pool might want teams instead of players. You can add any items alongside the import or build the whole pool by hand. See the custom draft guide.
At least as many as will actually be drafted, plus some room so the last rounds are not a forced choice. Multiply teams by rounds, then add a cushion of about a quarter:
| League | Players drafted | Pool to import |
|---|---|---|
| 8 teams × 13 rounds | 104 | Top 150 |
| 10 teams × 13 rounds | 130 | Top 150 or Top 200 |
| 12 teams × 13 rounds | 156 | Top 200 |
| 12 teams × 15 rounds (deep league) | 180 | Top 200 to Top 250 |
A standard 10- or 12-team league with a Top 150 or Top 200 pool fits the free plan. The import offers a Fits the free tier preset that sizes the pool to the free limit exactly, and the setup page warns you before you import a pool too large for it. Bigger leagues and deeper pools use the Premium large-draft unlock — see Pricing.
Snake is the default for most fantasy basketball leagues. The order reverses each round, so the manager who picks last in round one picks first in round two. It matters more in basketball than in most sports, because there are only a handful of true first-round players. The gap between the first pick and the twelfth is large, and the snake is how a league evens it out.
Auction removes that problem entirely. Every manager gets the same budget and bids, so anyone can land the best player in the league if they are willing to pay for them. It is a strong fit for a basketball dynasty startup, where a single superstar can anchor a roster for years. GetDraftedNow runs auctions live or over several days, with the max bid calculated for you — see the auction draft guide.
Linear keeps the same order every round. It suits a rookie or supplemental draft where the order is a reward, like reverse standings. All three formats are free on GetDraftedNow.
Yes, and for many groups it should. Fantasy basketball drafts land in the busiest stretch of the sports calendar, with football every weekend and the NBA preseason under way. A slow draft with a pick timer measured in hours lets everyone pick when they can instead of blocking out an evening. Each manager gets an email when it is their turn (text messages are a Premium option), and a ranked queue lets them line up their next few targets ahead of time.
If someone misses their turn, the timer runs out and auto-pick takes over, using the commissioner's ranked list, a random available player, or a pick the commissioner makes for them. One absent manager never stalls the league. For the full playbook, see the slow draft guide.
For your league's main draft, your league platform's own draft room is often the simplest choice. GetDraftedNow is for the drafts those rooms do not handle well: a dynasty startup that has to run over a week, a rookie draft after the NBA draft, a mock with friends from three different leagues, a supplemental draft after a manager leaves, or a group where half the people do not have accounts on your platform.
| Need | GetDraftedNow | League platform draft room | Spreadsheet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ranked NBA pool without typing it | One-click Sleeper import | Built in | Manual |
| Draft only the players still available | My League mode | Usually not | Manual cross-referencing |
| Run it over days, not one session | Pick timers in hours or days | Varies by platform | Yes, but unmanaged |
| Include people without an account | Magic link, no signup | Account required | Yes |
| Add picks, teams, or custom items | Any item, alongside players | No | Yes |
Does it work for categories, points, and roto leagues? Yes. The draft does not depend on how your league scores. GetDraftedNow runs the draft itself, and scoring, lineups, and standings live on your league platform. If your league punts a category, that is a strategy for your managers, not a setting here.
What about players eligible at two positions? Each imported player is filed under one position, their primary one, so a guard listed PG/SG appears under PG. That keeps the position filters clean. Managers who care about dual eligibility will already know it, and it does not change who can be drafted.
Do my managers need Sleeper accounts? No. Only the commissioner needs a GetDraftedNow account. Managers join through their magic link, and nobody needs a Sleeper account at all, including the commissioner.
How current is the NBA player data? The catalog refreshes daily, and the import tells you when the player data last changed. Re-importing before the draft updates the pool without losing your managers' queues or your rankings for players who are still in it.
Is the fantasy basketball draft free? Yes. Creating the league, importing the NBA pool, and running a snake, linear, or auction draft are free under the free plan's limits. Premium and Pro are the paid upgrade paths for larger drafts, text-message alerts, per-drafter ranked auto-pick, and more — see Pricing.
Can I get the results back into Sleeper? Yes, by hand. The Sleeper draft guide walks through entering a finished board into a Sleeper league.
