Run a Slow Draft for Your Yahoo League

Yahoo's draft room is built for one live sitting. If your league would rather draft over a few days, or some of your managers cannot make draft night, run the draft on GetDraftedNow instead. Connect your Yahoo account once and import your league's player pool, team names, and draft order. When the board is done, enter the results back into Yahoo as an offline draft.

What does the Yahoo import do?

It builds your draft from your Yahoo league so you do not have to retype it. You connect your Yahoo account once, pick one of your leagues, and choose how deep the pool should go: a preset that depends on the sport (including a Fits the free tier option) or a number of your own. Players come across in Yahoo's own Overall Rank order, with their pro team attached, so the board reads Jahmyr Gibbs (Det). Each player's position becomes a category, so the pool filters by position from the moment it lands. For football leagues, bye weeks come across too.

The import also reads your league's roster settings. If you have not set the number of rounds yet, it fills it in from your Yahoo roster size, counting the bench and skipping injured-reserve slots. If your Yahoo league is an auction league, the import tells you so but leaves the format for you to choose.

Once the pool is in, the commissioner's ranked list can start from Use Yahoo order. If auto-pick uses that list, a missed turn follows the same rankings your managers already know.

Can it set up my managers and the draft order too?

Yes. Sync league context reads the teams in your Yahoo league and shows you a preview before it writes anything. Each Yahoo team becomes a seat in your draft under its Yahoo team name, and you can untick any team you do not want. If Yahoo has already assigned your league a draft order, and you are adding every team at once, the seats are placed in that order.

Seats are created as open placeholders. Nobody is emailed or texted, and no contact details come across from Yahoo. When you are ready, invite each manager to their seat from the drafters list. Sync is separate from the player import, so you can import the pool weeks early and sync teams once your invites are ready. It only adds seats, never rewrites ones you already have, and it only works before the draft starts.

Why draft outside Yahoo at all?

For a league that can get everyone online on the same evening, Yahoo's live draft is fine. GetDraftedNow is for the drafts that do not fit into one sitting: a slow draft with a pick every few hours, a league spread across time zones, an auction run over a week, a keeper or rookie side draft, or a group where some people do not want to make a Yahoo account just to draft.

How do you import your Yahoo league?

  1. Create a free draft. Choose snake, linear, or auction. All three are free.
  2. Connect Yahoo. In League Setup, under Starter Pools & External Imports, choose Connect Yahoo and approve read-only access on Yahoo's sign-in page. You come straight back to your draft.
  3. Pick your league. You see the leagues on your Yahoo account. A league whose Yahoo draft has already started, or whose season is over, is greyed out with the reason.
  4. Choose a cutoff and import. The result shows what was imported, removed, and skipped, and which settings were filled in.
  5. Sync league context. Optional: add your Yahoo teams as seats, in Yahoo's draft order when it is available.
  6. Invite your managers and start. Each one gets a magic link and drafts from any browser. Nobody needs a GetDraftedNow account, and only the commissioner ever connects Yahoo.

What can GetDraftedNow see in my Yahoo account?

Only what the import needs, and only to read. The connection is read-only: nothing is written to Yahoo, and your Yahoo league is not changed by an import or a sync. We store the players you import as ordinary items in your draft, plus the team names you choose to add as seats. No manager details, emails, or rosters are kept.

You can disconnect from your Profile at any time. Players you already imported stay in your draft. If the connection ever expires, the import asks you to reconnect rather than failing silently.

Which Yahoo leagues can I import?

Leagues on the Yahoo account you connect whose Yahoo draft has not started yet. That is the point of the import: building your draft before it happens. A league that has already drafted, or a finished season, appears in the list but cannot be picked.

Football, basketball, hockey, and baseball leagues can all be imported. Football is the path checked end to end against a live Yahoo league. Basketball, hockey, and baseball use the same import but have not been checked against a live league yet, so look over the pool order and round count after importing. Running a basketball league? The fantasy basketball draft guide covers the NBA pool from Sleeper, which needs no account at all.

How do I get the results back into Yahoo?

With Yahoo's offline draft. Before your Yahoo draft date, set the league's draft type to offline in the league settings, so Yahoo does not run its own draft at the scheduled time. When your GetDraftedNow board is complete, the commissioner starts the offline draft in Yahoo and fills in each team's roster.

Yahoo's offline entry goes one team at a time, so read from the By Team view of your finished board, which lists each roster in a single column. If you ran an auction, Yahoo's offline entry has no field for the price, so keep your board as the record of what everyone paid.

Yahoo draft FAQ

Is the Yahoo import free? Yes, the import and the league sync are free on every plan. What can push a draft into Premium is the size of the pool: a Top 200 import fits the free plan, while Top 300 and above is a large draft that needs the Premium large-draft unlock — see Pricing.

Do my managers need Yahoo accounts? No. Only the commissioner connects Yahoo. Everyone else joins your draft from a magic link with no account anywhere.

Can I re-import closer to the draft? Yes, any time before the draft starts. A re-import updates the Yahoo players in your pool and keeps players who are still in it, along with your managers' queues and your rankings. Items you added by hand, and players imported from Sleeper, are left alone. Imports are refused once the draft is running.

Does it show injury status? Not for Yahoo imports. Yahoo does not include it in the player data the import reads.

Can I use Sleeper data instead? Yes. The Sleeper import needs no account and works for any league, including Yahoo leagues. It just cannot read your Yahoo teams or draft order.
